Senate Republicans said Wednesday the Trump administration went too far in pursuing an indictment against their Democratic colleagues for participating in a video urging troops to disobey illegal orders.
The pushback across GOP ranks came after the Justice Department took the audacious — but ultimately unsuccessful — step of trying to indict the six Democratic lawmakers a day earlier.
“The video was stupid,” Sen. Tim Sheehy (R-Mont.) said. “And the attempt to indict them was stupid, too.”
