The top Democrat on the House Agriculture Committee isn’t sure whether her party will deliver a bigger show of support for the crypto industry when the House reconvenes next week to vote on the CLARITY Act.
Rep. Angie Craig (D-Minn.) led Agriculture Democrats in a big bipartisan markup of the CLARITY Act in June, which would restructure the regulation of crypto across the Securities and Exchange Commission and Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
This is the “crypto Congress,” with more pro-industry lawmakers serving in the 119th Congress than ever. But when we asked Craig whether the House would see a better showing this year than the last time the chamber voted on market structure reforms, in 2023, she said: “I honestly don’t know at this point.”
