Cantwell doesn’t sound too keen on financial data reform

A surprise bicameral deal on data privacy reform between the House and Senate committee chairs has some lawmakers wondering whether there’s room to squeeze in a separate but related financial data overhaul.

We asked Senate Commerce Committee Chair Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) about the possibility this week. Her initial response was not what we’d describe as encouraging.
