Johnson says he’s been talking to Murray about spending

Speaker Mike Johnson said that he spoke to Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) over the weekend and assured her the House would pass spending bills if the federal government reopens.

In a morning news conference in the Capitol, Johnson said he had a “fruitful discussion” with Murray — the top Democrat on the Senate Appropriations Committee — in the last few days.
