The Trump administration nominee to lead the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau told the Senate Banking Committee more than once today he would “follow the law” atop the watchdog. But it’s the questions he didn’t quite answer that will stick with Senate Democrats.
Jonathan McKernan spent much of the day assuring Democrats on the committee of his qualifications and intentions for the embattled agency. But on the questions of consumer restitution and CFPB’s continued existence, McKernan’s answers were carefully curtailed.
