Schumer calls GOP overdraft fee rollback ‘disgraceful’

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer blasted a plan from congressional Republicans to roll back a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau regulation that capped overdraft fees for large banks, calling the maneuver “disgraceful” during a forum today.

Schumer joined Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and several other Senate Democrats for a sitdown this afternoon focused on the embattled consumer watchdog agency.

The Democratic leader’s broadside – directed at GOP leaders by name – is the latest sign that his party sees the CFPB’s Biden-era moves as good politics. Expect the attacks to continue as the Trump administration rolls on.
