Democratic Rep. Jared Golden (Maine) announced today that he isn’t running for reelection in Maine’s 2nd District, delivering Democrats a blow in their bid to flip the House.
Golden consistently won reelection in a deep-red district that voted for President Donald Trump three times in a row. The Marine Corps veteran developed a unique Blue Dog brand after being elected to Congress in 2018. Unafraid to critique his own party and Washington as a whole, Golden outran national Democrats in his district while defeating well-funded Republican challengers.
