Jordan falls short in first round speaker vote

Twenty House Republicans voted against Jim Jordan for speaker, sending the Ohio Republican’s candidacy into tenuous territory.

The “no” votes ran the gamut from institutionalists to conservatives, and it highlights the discontent with the 59-year-old Judiciary Committee chair’s bid for the chamber’s top job.
