McCarthy says he’ll try to pass CR despite GOP opposition

Speaker Kevin McCarthy told us this morning that he’ll try to pass a stopgap spending bill next week to keep the government open despite steep opposition from House conservatives.

“I would like to, you need to,” McCarthy said when asked whether he plans to offer a Republican-drafted stopgap funding measure ahead of the Oct. 1 shutdown deadline.
