The Senate overwhelmingly rejected two resolutions from Sen. Bernie Sanders that would have blocked U.S. weapons sales to Israel.

Sanders announces intention to join Finance Committee

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) announced this afternoon that he intends to fill an open seat for Democrats on the Finance Committee.

A spokesperson for Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, however, said that “no decisions about committee rosters have been made.”

So Sanders’ public announcement is an unusual move.
