Senate Dems provide the votes to avert shutdown

The Senate is on a glide path to passing a House GOP-authored bill to fund the federal government through Sept. 30.

Senators just cleared a key procedural hurdle in a 62-38 vote, with 10 Democrats joining all Republicans except Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.). The Senate is now voting on amendments and will soon move to final passage of the CR, which will be at a simple-majority threshold.
