The Supreme Court gave Republicans a major win Wednesday by upending a critical piece of the 1965 Voting Rights Act that enabled the creation of majority-minority districts.
Today’s ruling, written by Justice Samuel Alito, could net the GOP at least one to three seats during 2026, depending on how far Republican-dominated states push.
But the decision may also hand Republicans far more seats in 2028, especially across the South. At least eight seats could be in play then, maybe more.
