A bipartisan coalition of state lawmakers is urging Congress to stop the House’s proposed freeze on state regulation of artificial intelligence.

In a letter addressed to members of the House and Senate, the lawmakers argue states have already enacted laws that protect consumers, seniors, medical patients and the work of artists and other members of the creator economy. They call the federal pre-emption an overreach.
