Lawmakers are defending the CHIPS Act after President Donald Trump called the law a “ridiculous program.”

Trump criticized the law in an address to House Republicans yesterday after he said he would impose high tariffs for semiconductors and computer chips. He said the law is too expensive and that tariffs instead should incentivize chip companies to build their plants in the United States.
