LAS VEGAS – The Trump administration will send to Congress a legislative proposal for a federal artificial intelligence standard “this year,” the White House tech chief said Wednesday.
Michael Kratsios, who leads the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, said at the CES trade show the administration will present the proposal to avoid a 50-state patchwork of AI laws.
Kratsios said he’s working “closely” with White House AI Czar David Sacks on the endeavor. While President Donald Trump signed an executive order last month directing the two men to come up with a federal framework, it didn’t stipulate a specific timeline.
