Managing Editor for Special Projects
Punchbowl News is a news content company founded by Anna Palmer, Jake Sherman, John Bresnahan and Rachel Schindler focused on power, people and politics in Washington. We are looking for a Managing Editor for Special Projects to join our growing team.
Punchbowl News’ primary focus is breaking news about power, the nation’s political leadership and explaining to our audience of political junkies how Washington works. We produce (at least) three newsletters each day, a daily podcast, a weekly web show and more coming soon. Punchbowl News’ theory is that power in Washington emanates from the Capitol — and that’s the center of our focus.
We are looking for an entrepreneurial editor to oversee Punchbowl News’s existing custom product features, including The Canvass, our anonymous survey of senior Capitol Hill aides, and The Tally, our take on the 2022 midterms. Additionally, the special projects editor would help develop new products and platforms, working closely with our editorial and business teams. We have had success with short-term projects like The Opener, The Bounceback, and The Workforce. We want to build on those concepts to develop compelling storytelling about key issues impacting the Punchbowl News community.
The job is based in Washington, D.C. or NYC but we are open to candidates from everywhere. Punchbowl News is committed to building a diverse staff.
