A critical inflation report comes in hot

Price increases have proven stickier than expected for the third straight month. Markets aren’t jazzed, but a lot depends on how officials at the Federal Reserve will respond in the coming weeks.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Consumer Price Index increased by 0.4% in the month of March, according to data released this morning. That’s higher than the 0.3% economists had been anticipating, and it’s just as high as February's rate.
