  • Events Associate

    Job Summary:

    Punchbowl News is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Events Associate to join our dynamic and growing events team. This role is key in supporting the planning, promotion, and execution of a variety of events—including editorial, social, and special events.

     

    The Events Associate will focus heavily on developing attendee-facing communications, while also contributing to the creation and maintenance of event pages, invitation lists, marketing materials, and social media content. In addition, the role provides logistical and registration support throughout the event process and serves as a direct point of contact for attendees during events.

    Ideal candidates will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage the setup, maintenance, and registration process for all Punchbowl News event pages
    • Execute pre- and post-event promotion for editorial and social events, including email campaigns (invitations, confirmations, and reminders) and social media content
    • Provide on-site support to the event production team, particularly with attendee check-in and registration
    • Utilize event management systems to build event pages, maintain attendee lists, manage communications, and track event performance through data analysis
    • Coordinate participation of key stakeholders—including lawmakers, special guests, attendees, and sponsors—to ensure smooth event execution
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for attendees, both via email and on-site during events, delivering exceptional customer service
    • Collaborate with the broader events and marketing teams on additional tasks and projects as needed to support overall event success

     

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in event planning or event coordination
    • Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and clear, professional communication abilities
    • Proficiency with event management, project management, and/or CRM software platforms
    • Comfortable interfacing with high-level stakeholders, including members of Congress, government officials, sponsors, and members of the Punchbowl News community
    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
    • Experience with Canva and social media platforms is a plus

     

    Compensation and Benefits:

    The salary for this role is in the range of $65,000-$85,000. Final compensation will be based on scope, work experience and relevant skills.

  • Digital Content Producer

    Job Summary: Punchbowl News is seeking a creative, fast-moving Digital Content Producer to help execute high-impact visual and editorial content across video, social media, and graphic design. This role involves working with our Director of Editorial Video Strategy, editorial producers and reporters to create engaging visual content. Strong graphic design and social media skills, along with a passion for political news, are necessary.

    The ideal candidate is visually driven, politically curious, and comfortable juggling design, production, and social media strategy. This person should be just as confident booking guests, crafting reels and clips as they are clipping soundbites and implementing a subscriber growth plan. This person will be a key steward of our brand and how we present ourselves creatively to external audiences across multiple platforms.

    This position is generally Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with some need for weekend flexibility during breaking news events.

     

    Responsibilities:

    Video Production & Editing

    • Assist Director of Editorial Video Strategy and editorial producers in the full video lifecycle for our weekly digital show: pre-production, booking, filming logistics, and post-production and promotion
    • Clip and edit short-form, vertical, and social-first videos (YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels) to promote our video offerings
    • Create visually striking thumbnails, graphics, lower-thirds, transitions and intro/outro packages
    • Work closely with Director of Editorial Video Strategy to maintain guest booking system for our weekly digital show
    • Design digital and social media assets (static, motion, templates) as needed for editorial video
    • Help organize video assets and structure content libraries

    Social Media Support

    • Work with editorial and marketing teams to help package and distribute content strategically across platforms, including but not limited to X, Instagram and YouTube
    • Work with Director of Editorial Video Strategy and marketing teams to develop and execute a subscriber growth strategy for social platforms
    • Monitor real-time trends across platforms; pitch and execute quick-turn ideas in response to the news cycle from breaking news to major story hits
    • Analyze and make recommendations for how best to package social content across each platform
    • Create and maintain content calendar to ensure consistent social posting each week and collaboration between editorial and business teams

     

    Qualifications:

    • 2-4 years of relevant experience (newsroom experience a plus)
    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator); Canva
    • Experience editing short-form and social-first video for platforms such as Instagram and YouTube
    • Proven experience driving increased engagement through social and visual products
    • Strong design sensibility and meticulous attention to detail
    • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
    • Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills
    • Enthusiasm for politics, journalism, and digital storytelling

    Job Summary: Punchbowl News seeks a motivated, detail-oriented Advertising Operations Associate to join our growing team. This individual will support the Client Engagement team to execute on all of our paid media partnerships including newsletters, site, podcast, and video. This will involve working with external clients and internal stakeholders. In addition, this individual will attend and support sponsored events, help prepare team members and the CEO for major meetings and engagements, and work with the operations team on the billing process.

    Ideal candidates will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, time management, and organization skills, with an analytical eye and a desire to continuously improve processes. This is a fast-paced environment and the role will require the ability to manage competing priorities with time sensitive deadlines.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Execute paid media advertising campaigns from start to finish including collecting assets, creating and sharing previews with advertisers until approval is received, and placing assets across Punchbowl News’ suite of products including newsletters, podcasts, video, and site.
    • Analyze performance of advertising campaigns and create reports on a weekly basis to share back with advertisers.
    • Assist with creation and collection of invoices for sponsorships revenue, working closely with operations and finance colleagues to ensure a smooth and efficient process.
    • Prepare the client engagement team and the CEO ahead of key meetings and events by researching and compiling relevant information about prospects and clients.
    • Support the execution of sponsored events including sourcing for invite-only events and collecting and posting content to Punchbowl News social media.

     

    Qualifications:

    • 2 years of work experience, ideally in media with an interest in politics
    • Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills
    • Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal stakeholders and external clients
    • Proficiency with Google Sheets / Microsoft Excel
    • Proven ability to manage competing priorities with time sensitive deadlines
    • Strong analytical skills with a desire to improve processes and insights
