FTC will hire staff to enforce deepfakes law

The chair of the Federal Trade Commission said he wants to hire special investigators to enforce legislation expected to soon be signed into law that seeks to curb non-consensual deepfake nudes and revenge porn online.

FTC Chair Andrew Ferguson told the House Appropriations Committee that the agency would also need “a segregated technology system” to deal with this explicit content.
