    Job Description

    Financial institutions large and small play an outsized role in the Power, People and Politics of Washington. Hedge fund titans and cryptocurrency billionaires spend tens of millions of dollars on campaigns across the country. They have the ear of the congressional leadership. They spend millions of dollars on lobbying, trying to shape legislation and shape debates.

    Punchbowl News is hiring a reporter to cover these figures and chronicle what they are trying to do in Washington.

    The ideal candidate would want to completely own the coverage of the power, people and politics in the financial services world. We want to write about what the big players in finance are doing in Washington, their interactions with the leadership and committees, who they are donating to, who they are raising money for, who they are meeting with, what policies they care about and how they are trying to influence D.C. We want someone who wants to own and break news on this incredibly powerful niche.

    Responsibilities

    • File several dispatches each week for our flagship newsletters, Punchbowl News AM, Midday and PM and would be responsible for breaking news on the beat
    • Think expansively about new and inventive ways to cover the Power, People and Politics in the financial services space in Washington
    • Spearhead all efforts around financial services in Washington
    • Host live newsmaker events
    • Appear on television

    Qualifications

    • D.C. and Capitol Hill reporting experience
    • An interest in financial services, Wall Street and the power players in the industry
    • Three or more years of reporting experience preferred
    • Experience writing clean, concise copy
    • A proven track record in breaking news

  • Product Manager

    Punchbowl News is a news content company founded by Anna Palmer, Jake Sherman, John Bresnahan and Rachel Schindler focused on power, people and politics in Washington. We are looking for a Product Manager to join our growing team.

    Punchbowl News' primary focus is breaking news about power, the nation's political leadership and explaining to our audience of political junkies how Washington works. We produce (at least) three newsletters each day, a daily podcast, digital products and more. Punchbowl News' theory is that power in Washington emanates from the Capitol -- and that's the center of our focus.

    Our audience includes members of Congress, high-ranking members of the Biden administration, lobbyists, top-level reporters, media executives, Wall Streeters, tech and Hollywood executives and everyday political fans.

    We are looking for a Product Manager to help us grow our products and offerings for Punchbowl News. You will work closely with the founding team in building Punchbowl News.

    Responsibilities

    • Own the technical & design infrastructure for Punchbowl News (site, membership systems, payment, ESP)
    • Manage the creation and development of new products for Punchbowl News
    • Work across editorial, business, and growth to surface opportunities for product improvements and changes
    • Manage outside tech partners, contractors, and agencies
    • Lead and execute on Punchbowl News’ product roadmap
    • Assess, analyze and recommend improvements based on data and analytics

    Qualifications

    • Exemplary attention to detail
    • Experience in technical project management or product management
    • Ability to project manage start to finish with little direction, working on tight project deadlines
    • Fast-paced and willing to work across multiple projects/initiatives at a time
    • Strong analytical mindset, ability to make data-driven decisions
    • Positive and excited to be one of the earliest members of Punchbowl News

  • Subscription Growth Manager

    Job Description

    Punchbowl News is a news content company founded by Anna Palmer, Jake Sherman, John Bresnahan and Rachel Schindler focused on power, people and politics in Washington. We are looking for a Business Development Manager to join our growing team.

    Punchbowl News' primary focus is breaking news about power, the nation's political leadership and explaining to our audience of political junkies how Washington works. We produce (at least) three newsletters each day, a daily podcast, digital products and more. Punchbowl News' theory is that power in Washington emanates from the Capitol -- and that's the center of our focus.

    We are looking for a Subscription Growth Manager to help us grow our Punchbowl News community. You will work closely with the founding team in building Punchbowl News.

    Responsibilities

    • Identify leads, manage sales pipeline, prospect leads, outreach to prospects, convert to subscribers
    • Run full lifecycle for subscription sales growth
    • Organize and lead the team in utilizing CRM for subscription sales
    • Build relationships with prospects, leads, and current community members
    • Work closely with the community manager and marketing partners to grow the Punchbowl News subscriber funnel and journey

    Qualifications

    • Experience in business development or account management for a subscription-based service
    • Proven track record in results and exceeding sales goals
    • Exemplary attention to detail
    • Ability to project manage start to finish with little direction, working on tight project deadlines
    • Fast-paced and willing to work across multiple projects/initiatives at a time
