Senate Republican leadership expects Sen. Roger Marshall to introduce the CCCA as part of the open amendment process for the GENIUS Act.

The era of dodging swipe fee reform votes is over

News: Senate Republican leadership expects Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) to introduce the Credit Card Competition Act as part of the open amendment process for the GENIUS Act, according to two people familiar with the thinking.

The credit card swipe fee bill – and its possible inclusion as an amendment to GENIUS – was discussed at a meeting of Senate Republican chiefs of staff on Monday.

Three sources present for that meeting said that Republican leadership staff did not dispute the likelihood of a swipe fee vote as part of Senate Majority Leader John Thune’s commitment to “regular order.”
