The 14 Democrats in Illinois’ congressional delegation issued a joint endorsement of a mid-decade redistricting on Tuesday after a lengthy effort by Democratic leaders to get their unified support.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has had multiple meetings with the delegation in the hopes of securing their blessing to push the state legislature to redistrict. Democrats hope to net one seat from a redraw, likely that of Rep. Darin LaHood (R-Ill.), to enact a 15D-2R map.
