Another week ends with the government still shut down

Congress has made it through another week without making any progress to end the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.

Senate Republicans have resoundingly rejected a new Democratic offer to end the 38-day impasse over government funding and expiring Obamacare subsidies, likely dragging the shutdown into next week.

Senate Democrats offered a one-year extension of Obamacare enhanced premium subsidies, a three-bill minibus paired with a clean CR and the creation of a bipartisan committee to negotiate a long-term fix.
