News: Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) told us that she wants to tamp down her feud with Speaker Mike Johnson after a week in which she said the Louisiana Republican’s leadership was rudderless and called him a “political novice.”
“This is going to be a de-escalatory conversation, not an escalatory conversation,” Stefanik told us on Fly Out Day, preferring to ratchet down her tensions with the speaker.
Stefanik said she empathized with Johnson’s plight in having a razor-thin majority.
“Being a Republican speaker of the House is one of the most difficult jobs,” Stefanik said.
