News: Apple CEO Tim Cook met with a group of lawmakers from the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Wednesday to discuss potential smartphone regulation, according to two sources familiar with the meeting.

Cook told the panel members that any approach to device regulation should protect kids’ data, one of the sources said.

The visit comes a day before the panel holds a subcommittee markup on 18 bills designed to protect kids and teens online, including age verification for smartphone users.
