Moderate House Republicans are inching closer to supporting House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries’ efforts to force a vote on a three-year extension of the enhanced Obamacare premium subsidies.
The moderates — led by Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick (Pa.), Mike Lawler (N.Y.), Jen Kiggans (Va.) and David Valadao (Calif.) — will not be allowed an amendment to the GOP health care package. The amendment the moderates want would extend the ACA enhanced premium tax credits for two years with other conditions.
“All options are on the table,” Lawler told reporters when asked about the Jeffries petition. Kiggans has ruled out signing onto the petition, but Fitzpatrick, Valadao and other moderates are considering it, according to multiple sources familiar with their thinking.
