Vault: Senate revs up its housing push

Senate Majority Leader John Thune told reporters on Wednesday that the chamber would begin consideration of the Senate Banking Committee’s marquee housing bill before the end of the week. The bill, the ROAD to Housing Act, is designed to ease the development of housing in the United States by cutting certain construction regulations and rewarding state and local governments that remove their own legal barriers.

Separate but related, Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) told us his bill to limit large institutional investors from purchasing single-family homes would be introduced no later than next Tuesday. More on that below.
