Tech: Cruz wanted FCC vote on Nexstar-Tegna deal

Senate Commerce Committee Chair Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is pushing back on how the Federal Communications Commission approved a major merger of two large broadcast TV affiliate groups. 

Cruz said FCC Chair Brendan Carr shouldn’t have used the commission’s media bureau to approve the Nexstar-Tegna merger, which established the precedent for the FCC waiving the national broadcast ownership cap.
