Breaking news. Rep. David Scott (D-Ga.), a 12-term incumbent representing a safe Democratic district east of Atlanta, died Wednesday.
Scott was 80 years old and had serious health issues. Scott, the first Black chair of the House Agriculture Committee, was forced out in 2024 as the top Democrat on the panel due to failing health.
Scott filed to run for reelection in November, but he faced several serious primary challengers.
