The House on Friday voted 400-15 to approve the first FY2027 spending bill of the year, funding Military Construction and Veterans’ Affairs. That’s probably the best it’s going to get for appropriators this funding cycle.
The FY2027 MilCon-VA bill would provide a $1 billion boost over FY2026. It’s one of the few bills House Republicans proposed that would increase funding rather than slash it. But appropriators have much tougher tasks ahead of them.
