President Donald Trump stayed in Washington through the holiday weekend to hammer out a “largely negotiated” peace deal with Iran. Many Republicans are deeply skeptical.
Details of the potential agreement remain scarce. Trump said in his post that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen under his framework. GOP defense hawks were borderline hostile to what they’re hearing so far.
“I am deeply concerned about what we are hearing about an Iran ‘deal,’ being pushed by some voices in the administration,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said in a post Saturday.
