White House steps up outreach ahead of funding deadline

President Donald Trump will meet Wednesday with members of the House Freedom Caucus who are skeptical of passing a long-term CR to keep federal agencies open through Sept. 30, according to multiple sources familiar with the meeting.

Speaker Mike Johnson, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise and House Majority Whip Tom Emmer all said in a closed party meeting Tuesday morning that Trump wants a clean CR through the end of FY2025.
