House planning vote to censure Green this week

News: House Republican leadership will schedule a vote for this week on censuring Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) for his outburst during President Donald Trump’s speech to a joint session of Congress.

There are multiple resolutions floating around. Reps. Troy Nehls (R-Texas) and Dan Newhouse (R-Wash.) both have drafted censure measures. The GOP leadership favors Newhouse’s version, which is short and to the point. Newhouse is one of the more moderate members of the House Republican Conference. He voted to impeach Trump over Jan. 6.
