Happening shortly. Sen. Patty Murray (Wash.), the top Democrat on the Senate Appropriations Committee, will try again to pass a bill to fund all agencies under the Department of Homeland Security except ICE, CBP and the Office of the Secretary.
Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.) will object and then counter with her own unanimous consent request to fund the full department, according to two sources familiar with the matter. Democrats will object.
The dueling UC requests come as the two sides continue to snipe at each other and a deal to fund DHS with reforms to ICE remains elusive. DHS has been shut down for nearly a month, and chaos at U.S. airports is worsening.
