Amanda Edwards jumps into TX-18 race

Former Houston City Council member Amanda Edwards joined the growing field of Democratic candidates running to replace the late Texas Rep. Sylvester Turner.

Edwards, who has run twice for the seat, said she wants to bring “a fresh perspective” to the office, which has been held by longtime political titans for decades.

“We are looking for someone who can bring us into the next leg of the journey,” Edwards told us. “We are in a really difficult crossroads right now where you've got to have a leader who can fight for justice, fight for what's right and come back the challenges that are coming down the pipeline from President Trump.”
