Defense: Appropriators buck Trump in DOD bill

Lawmakers used the defense spending bill to rebuff some of the Trump administration’s plans for the military, repelling efforts to cancel a radar plane and pause the Navy’s next-generation fighter jet program.

Appropriators also signaled their displeasure with the Pentagon’s handling of one of President Donald Trump’s signature priorities: the development of a missile defense shield covering the United States.

The House is expected to pass the minibus, including the defense title, later on Thursday.
