Odds are already dimming for any major breakthrough on reauthorizing a key surveillance authority ahead of next month’s deadline — and the CIA isn’t helping win over skeptical lawmakers.
Conservatives were already wary of extending FISA Section 702 without major reforms, vowing to only fight harder for warrant requirements and other changes amid the current 45-day extension. Two weeks into that period, they don’t see any movement.
