Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ramped up his attack on Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) Monday, announcing the Pentagon had censured the Arizona Democrat for his “seditious comments” and is seeking to demote the retired Navy captain.
Kelly will have 30 days to respond to the Pentagon’s action, while the process of reducing his rank would take 45 days, according to Hegseth. Any demotion would lessen Kelly’s military pension.
The Pentagon’s pursuit of “administrative actions” against Kelly comes after his involvement in a video with five other congressional Democrats where the lawmakers urged servicemembers to disobey illegal orders.
