A new bipartisan war powers resolution targeting Iran will be ready for Senate action next week, as the United States continues its buildup of military might at Tehran’s doorstep.
The resolution from Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) and Rand Paul (R-Ky.) would ripen as Congress is in the throes of a Homeland Security funding fight that could tie up the chamber’s floor.
But Kaine chafed against suggestions the dynamic could factor into lawmakers’ consideration of when to demand an initial vote on the measure, which would limit President Donald Trump’s ability to use military force against Tehran without congressional approval.
