Defense appropriators from both parties are clamoring for the Pentagon to send over its request for extra funding to cover the costs of the Iran war. But top military officials are in no rush to heed their calls.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Tuesday sidestepped congressional demands for more fulsome information tied to the Middle East operations and refused to commit to swiftly detailing spending for the multi-billion-dollar campaign.
Pressed by lawmakers on when the Hill might receive a more formal accounting behind the costs of the war, Hegseth responded: “When it’s relevant and required, we will share it.”
