Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) isn’t sold on using the reauthorization fight over a key spy authority to pass the SAVE America Act, a tactic championed by some ardent House supporters.
Lee wants significant changes to that surveillance program, Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, even as senior Trump administration officials have made the case for a clean reauthorization ahead of an April 20 deadline.
“I go back and forth on whether that’s a likely step. I don’t know,” Lee said Thursday of trying to attach SAVE America to a FISA bill.
