How the Pentagon will spend its OBBB billions

The Pentagon transmitted a long-overdue plan to Congress dictating how it will spend tens of billions of dollars from the reconciliation package on shipbuilding, missiles, fighter jets and bombers.

But the plan the Defense Department sent to lawmakers last week only covers around 60% of the $150 billion the military received under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The complete spending plan is critical for lawmakers as they work to determine FY2026 funding for the Pentagon.
