Trump announced Wednesday he is directing the Defense Department to use “any” money available to cover troops’ pay during the government shutdown.

Defense: Trump order roils military contractors

President Donald Trump’s plan to crack down on defense contractors by limiting their ability to financially reward shareholders and executives has sent shockwaves through the military industrial base. The move is also raising questions about how exactly it would work.

The industry strategy at this point is to stay publicly quiet while companies digest the executive order released late Wednesday and as members of Congress start to weigh in.

Members of Congress have been less tight-lipped.
