Schiff knocks CFPB for dropping Citi’s Armenian order

First in The Vault: Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) blasted the Trump administration’s Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Friday after the agency dropped a 2023 enforcement action accusing Citibank of sharply discriminating against Armenian Americans.

Schiff, a longtime member of the Congressional Armenian Caucus, excoriated Citibank for its past practices and accused the CFPB of “putting big corporations ahead of the people.”

“This choice, to take the side of the bank against the wronged in the face of the most plainly discriminatory conduct, will cast a long shadow over the community,” the California Democrat said in a statement.
