Sherrod Brown calls for new FDIC chair, breaking with Warren

News: The chair of the Senate Banking Committee called for new leadership at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., setting up a clash against core progressive allies and the White House with tremendous stakes for financial policy.

In a statement emailed this morning, Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) ​​said that after last week's oversight hearings with FDIC Chair Martin Gruenberg and other regulators, he was "left with one conclusion: there must be fundamental changes at the FDIC. Those changes begin with new leadership.”
