Democratic pressure on Capital One-Discover is picking up

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) became the latest lawmaker to blast the proposed $35 billion merger of Capital One and Discover this morning. It’s a sign of broadening resistance to the deal among Democrats in Congress.

In a statement, Murphy said the deal “would be a disaster for everyone but the executives and wealthy shareholders behind it.” The Connecticut Democrat said regulators “must block this merger.”
