Republican and Democratic lawmakers aren’t exactly jazzed about the meme coin project launched by President Donald Trump just hours before his inauguration this week.

We’ve been running traps to talk to lawmakers about $TRUMP, a meme coin tied to an affiliate of the Trump Organization. The on-paper value of that project is currently worth some tens of billions, with caveats. But with the president promising to enshrine crypto in the regulated financial system, the optics are bad for everyone involved.
