Emmer says GENIUS, CLARITY must be linked

First in the Vault: House Majority Whip Tom Emmer on Tuesday backed a push from House Financial Services Committee Chair French Hill (R-Ark.) to link two major crypto bills into a joint effort. Emmer is the latest and highest-ranking GOP official to break with President Donald Trump on a legislative strategy for crypto reform.

We asked Emmer what the House would do with the GENIUS Act, a Senate-passed bill to regulate stablecoins. Emmer said he expected the House would pass it with changes – and he later added that the bill should be “accompanied” by a far more ambitious crypto reform bill.
