Republicans like the CapOne-Discover merger

A group of Republican lawmakers led by Rep. Scott Fitzgerald (Wis.) urged federal bank regulators to “promptly” process the proposed megamerger of Capital One and Discover.

The lawmakers stop short of explicitly endorsing the deal, first announced in February that’s poised to make Capital One an even more dominant player in U.S. credit card markets. But Republicans see a lot to like, according to the letter sent today.
