House GOP leadership is set to host a briefing on tax plans for reconciliation on Wednesday afternoon, according to multiple sources. Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith (R-Mo.) will present during the private meeting.
The gathering is the latest in a series of reconciliation briefings the whip’s office is holding as part of its preparation to assemble a tax, border, energy and spending cut package. Different members of the House Republican leadership have been hosting their own meetings to gather feedback and fill in the rank-and-file on committee plans. The tax-focused discussion on Wednesday is members-only, according to a copy of the invite.
